We, as creatives, know how crucial how we present ourselves to our target audience, as well as just in general. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to certain tools like lighting equipment, audio and sound, camera and videography tools. As well as this, there are not a lot of places that are cost-friendly to hire out a studio that permits the right tool and space.
Dock Street Studios offer creatives the opportunity to hire out the studio to whatever their hearts desire- whether that is photography, videography, a space to do auditions, showreels, and other potential collaborations with other creatives.
By renting the studio, it opens up the possible use of numerous professional equipment for a lower price, rather than having to wait until you have all necessary equipment to create your art visually. The potential is endless too, for actors, hiring out Dock Street Studios, especially with some actors not having the space for doing auditions or filming their showreels, it’s really difficult to find the space to do it. Additionally, there are certain casting directors and agents that want specific briefs to their submissions, which some of us can’t really access. By hiring out this space, it will be cost-effective, advantageous due to the use of professional equipment, as well as just the overall energy of the room that helps us concentrate (basically to lock in).
Additionally, in another acting perspective, this space is spacious and perfect to use as an audition space. With the use of equipment and spacing, film-makers can hold their auditions here free of distractions. Plus (!!) Dock Street Studios has a little island-counter with a fridge, stocked up with the essentials (water, pop, milk, and everything else you can think of) perfect for a day’s worth of auditions.
Showreels are also a big thing in the acting world. Showreels are great and can never go against you when it’s included in your Spotlight. To break it down a bit, showreels are separate clips that showcase an actor’s ability to, well basically, act. It can stitch up various clips to show the range an actor has and can be incredibly helpful as CDs and agents during the selection process to see if they’ve got what they’re looking for. Dock Street Studios can also provide the required equipment to create a polished and professional showreel piece.
Moving away from the acting scene, the studio can also provide the space to create other kinds of creative projects such as podcasts, interviews, videography pieces such as isolated parts of a documentary (the ideas are literally limitless, again- no brainer).
If you’re a photographer, Mark (owner of the space) also encourages collaborations and would supply you with high-quality equipment and the use of the studio, if you’re interested in hiring the space.
