Focusing on SEND Education

At Dock Street Studio, photography has always been about more than just snapping a photo then, 'next!'. The studio is rooted in storytelling — capturing real moments, real people, and real impact. One of the most meaningful ways this ethos comes to life is through the studio's work with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) schools, helping to raise awareness of the work these schools do every single day.

Why this work matters

SEND schools play a necessary role in our education system. They support children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, offering adapted learning environments where pupils can grow, develop and thrive at their own pace. Yet despite their importance, the work of SEND schools is often overlooked. Using visual storytelling to highlight both the educational side of SEND schools and the life-changing experiences they provide beyond the classroom is one way to change that.
